Yesterday was a fun day. Jenn’s brother is in town and she wanted to visit with him and her grandma and do some things around the house. I wanted to go fly somewhere. Solution? Daddy Day.
I got the kids and their Kid Support Packs loaded up (swimsuit, sunscreen, towels, food, water, etc.) and we were wheels-up at around 9am. Since Mom wasn’t with us, Ava got her seat upgraded to first class (AKA co-pilot).
37 minutes later we landed at Cascade to a bustling airport. Two planes in the pattern ahead of us, we land and go check out the ag plane that was busy refueling with Jet-A. In the far back a Sky Crane crew is taking a break between fire fighting sorties.
The kids are busy catching grasshoppers so I walk over to the parking lot to get the amazing $700 Astrovan. This van has served us faithfully now for 3 years. We drive up to the plane to unload our gear.
First objective is to get the lawn mowed while it is still cool. The girls play while I am busy doing that.
Then is it time to go to the lake. Ava has turned in to a pretty strong swimmer and was loving the waves.
Annalise had a band-aid on her foot so did not want to get in the water. So we built lots of sand castles.
After a few hours at the lake we go grab ice cream cones and head back to the cabin to relax and watch a movie and Annalise took a nap.
We head for home around 6pm. Flight was bumpy with light turbulence and poor visibility due to smoke the whole way home. Yuck. I’ll be glad when fire season is over. A small price to pay for a fun day with the girls.
a fun day for mommy too! Thanks for being the best dad!
